NOUGHTS & CROSSES
Penguin Books runs an annual book cover design competition for students. For this year I designed a cover for Calorie Blackman's novel 'Noughts & Crosses'. The book is about a dystopian reality where racial roles are reversed and two teens of different races from a controversial romance. This novel is aimed at a young adult audience.
I created digital illustrations based on Blackman's description of the main characters. I used the noughts and crosses symbols to remain relevant. I mainly used a black and white colour scheme however I incorporated a pop of colour with the gradient blue and purple drawings of noughts and crosses.
